Doodling was such a key antidote to boredom during those everlasting school days. Somehow doodling evolved into multi-page romantic comic strips; inevitable, really. If the Blonde Squad’s artwork wasn’t hostile or borderline disgusting, then it was about our crushes. Those seemed to be the common themes.
Observe:
I'm pretty proud of that one.
Here's a romantic comic I did for Stacy. The storylines were definitely pure fantasy, but that's what made them fun. She liked an older neighbor at the time, so he was the co-star of this one:
And here's a much longer one about Stacy and that same neighbor crush, investigating a mysterious figure they see in her attic window. It turns out that the shadow they saw was the girl's very strange friend, "The Weird One," apparently playing dress-up in some of the old clothes from the attic. (I think The Weird One was sort of supposed to be me.)
That crazy character, The Weird One, inspired many future drawings, like these ones done by that Stacy, below. It seems that The Weird One's once innocent mental instability took an unfortunate turn toward the homicidal...
I like the last one best because it was done in invisible ink. Bonus.
I found some pretty choice samples of art from my little group of girlfriends. You can see why they were the coolest people EVER to hang out with.
Have an masterpiece from your note-passing days? Take a pic and post it below! WBS- Jess
