Nicky and I attended a church congregation that was strictly for single young adults. Although barely qualifying as grown-ups, we all took on the jobs and responsibilities that are required to make a church run. We were teachers, librarians, leaders, choristers, pianists, and custodians.
At first, Nicky and I were called to serve together as the ward librarians. It was quite lonely and boring in there, so we printed these paper bookmarks to hand out as a way of drumming up business.
I think the bishop must have realized that our talents were being wasted in there, so he reassigned us, this time as Family Home Evening leaders. Basically, Family Home Evening in a singles ward is a glorified hang-out. I was in my element.
One activity that we repeated several times was "craft night," an opportunity to come together and work on your own hobby while visiting with friends. These nights were a huge success.
When we weren't crafting, we were putting on puppet shows, playing games, and just generally partying.
Here's where I got the whole group to do the puzz face- perhaps my proudest moment as an FHE leader.
Are you a church-goer? What are your favorite church activities? WBS- Jess
