In the summer of 2001, "Legally Blonde" hit theaters. My girlfriends and I went to see it, and we were never the same.

The idea of living so frivolously, of flirting so outrageously- it just captured our little 14 year old hearts. The result was an explosion of girlish fun that I wouldn't take back for anything.
I think I latched on to the idea more fiercely than the others. That's partly just my nature, but also, I maybe needed it the most at that time. See, "blonde" by our definition meant not taking anything too seriously. It was all about embracing everything that's fun about being a girl, and down-playing the drearier aspects.
There was a lot of dreary going on at my house in those days. I was ready to escape a bit and enjoy myself.
